My SUMI, SUMMI, SUMMY Line

FIRST GENERATION

1. Casper SUMI was born about 1650 in Switzerland. There is more to this family with information going back to the 12th century, which I hope to delve into soon.

He was married to Maria CLAUSER about 1672 in Switzerland. Maria CLAUSER was born about 1650 in Switzerland. Casper SUMI and Maria CLAUSER had the following children:

+2 i. Hans Peter SUMI.
3 ii. John SUMI. Possible younger brother of Hans Peter. Ancestor to Lon A. HUCKABY in CO.

SECOND GENERATION

2. Hans Peter SUMI was born about 1674 in Canton Bern, Switzerland. He died bf 1750 in Earl Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. He was a herdsman in Rexungen (Switzerland). Hans Peter Sr. was a Mennonite Minester. Like many Mennonite followers of that period, Hans Peter was driven into exile.

He was married to Maria Magalena HALDY (daughter of Abraham HALDY) on 30 Oct 1705 in Berg Lothringen, Alsace, France. Maria Magalena HALDY was born about 1685 in Alsace or Switzerland. She died af 1761 in Earl Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. She was buried in Mennonite Cem., Groffdale, Lancaster Co., PA. Hans Peter SUMI and Maria Magalena HALDY had the following children:

5 ii. Hans Jacob SUMI was born about 1711 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died near Groffdale, Lancaster Co., PA.
6 iii. Han Peter SUMI was born in 1713 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died on 30 Aug 1787 in Lincolnton, Lincoln Co., NC. He was buried in Lincoln, (now Catawba Co., NC.
7 iv. Otto Frederick "Fritz" SUMI was born about 1718 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died in Lincoln, (now Catawba Co., NC.
8 v. Hans Michael SUMI was born about 1722 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died bf 1790 in Yadkin River Valley, Davidson Co., NC. He was buried in NC.
9 vi. Johann Rudolph SUMI was born on 25 May 1723 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died on 20 Jun 1727 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany.
10 vii. Gorg Andreas SUMI was born on 11 Dec 1728 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany. He died on 19 Dec 1728 in Alsace or Palatinate, France/Germany.

THIRD GENERATION

4. Maria Magdalena SUNI SUMMY was born on 19 Dec 1706 in Switzerland. She died in Rowan co., or Lincoln Co., NC.

She was married to John (Johann) Peter VISINAND (son of Philip Peter VISINAND and Anna Helena "Allena" NEFF) on 7 Feb 1737 in Lancaster Co., PA. Rev. John Casper Stoever's Recods John (Johann) Peter VISINAND was born on 4 Feb 1713/14 in Hassloch, Edenkoben, Germany. He was baptized on 7 Feb 1713/14 in Hassloch, Germany Reformed Church. He died in Rowan Co., or Lincoln Co., NC?. the three references in the Rowan Co., NC records probably pertain to John
